What is movement practice and why is it important?

IMG_2776.jpg

You may be surprised or even find the concept of “movement practice” strange, as it doesn’t fit into a specific field. However, for me, it is one of the most complete and satisfying ways to work on yourself. My mission is to share everything I have learned over the years, because I am convinced that movement is essential to improve all aspects of our lives.

Like everything in life, it is a process: first we identify what we want to work on, and then we focus on developing mindfulness, discipline and, above all, action.

Movement: a unique practice for each person

One of the things I love most about movement practice is its incredible diversity. Even if you work with a movement coach , each experience will be unique, because our individual practice is influenced by our experiences, skills, and the disciplines we have explored throughout our lives.

In my case, my fundamental pillars are dance, acrobatics and yoga, and these deeply influence how I share my knowledge. My practice is structured in 10 main blocks that include:

  • Inverted as Handstands.

  • Calisthenics with exercises like Muscle Ups.

  • Circus acrobatics like Flips.

  • Floor work and fluidity.

  • Diaphragm control and conscious breathing exercises.

Grounding:

The work done on the ground and how we relate to it is fundamental to strengthening our connection with the earth, the foundation of our body. By practicing grounding, we anchor ourselves in the present, improve alignment and stability, and learn to move with greater control and awareness. This practice fosters an internal balance that is reflected in greater confidence and fluidity in our movement.

Movement

Siempre en movimiento

Eight years ago, my life changed when I discovered Ido Portal and his Movement Culture approach. For the first time, I found a methodology that combined knowledge from different disciplines and organised it in a coherent way to offer a comprehensive approach to movement. I felt deeply identified with this idea, as it reflected everything I was looking for in my practice.

Inspired by this philosophy, "Movisiento" was born, a training program that began focusing 100% on dancers. I had the privilege of teaching it in various countries and in different places in Spain, where I was able to see how this practice transformed not only bodies, but also perspectives.

However, I didn’t stop there. Over time, I broke down all the information I had accumulated throughout my career, organizing it into clear and accessible progressions so that even people with no prior dance experience could explore movement at its best.

A practice full of inspiration

The development of "Movisiento" has not been a solo journey. I have been fortunate to have great inspirations and learnings over the years. My approach is influenced by Movement Culture figures such as Ido Portal, Odelia Gold, Fighting Monkeys and Marcello Pallozzo , as well as by disciplines as varied as boxing, contemporary dance, calisthenics, acrobatics, breaking and yoga.

The result? A program that combines the richness of these disciplines to offer you a unique movement experience. No matter your initial level: everything is designed so that you can progress at your own pace and discover the unlimited potential of your body.

(This takes a lot of love)

A practice partner, not a teacher

I do not consider myself a teacher. That term carries with it a load of authority that does not reflect my approach. My way of working is based on tranquility, relaxation and connection, creating a space where each practitioner can discover and develop the best of themselves.

I believe the key to good practice lies in connection and understanding. By removing ego and laziness from the equation, we achieve a frustration-free environment where personal growth is inevitable.

Throughout my career, I have had many "teachers." But for me, they are not so because of their technical level or difficulty, but because of their ability to understand and the way they transmit their knowledge.

I am guided by Robert Heinlein's phrase:

"When one teaches, two learn."

In each session, both you and I learn, because this path is not about teaching from the top, but about growing together.
